I’m So Glad I Found Grandpa Kitchen

By: Hector Galbraith

A little while back I stumbled upon the most amazing YouTube channel, Grandpa Kitchen – YouTube. That’s Grandpa Kitchen….. not Grandpa’s Kitchen.

This channel followed the massive sized cooking recipes of Narayana Reddy who unfortunately recently passed away at the age of 73. In his videos he and his grandchildren together would create massive and unique versions of different recipes from around the world.

His versions of popular dishes such as donuts, Oreo chocolate cake and shrimp spaghetti are notable but it’s really the traditional Indian recipes in his very large library that will keep you coming back over and over again. Everything from the cooking process to the ingredients themselves along with the amount and ratio in each dish lets you know right away this man was a true master of his craft.

Another funny thing is the number of amazing sound bytes that came out of this man and his channel. His pronunciation in English of the ingredients as he adds them to each dish is the stuff of internet legend. Can someone please make a Grandpa Kitchen soundboard ASAP? The video below features an extremely unique egg recipe and contains some classic quotes starting just before the 2 minute mark.

One of the best parts about this amazing guy and his recipes is that he cooked them to feed local orphans and other underprivileged people living on the outskirts of Hyderabad, in his southern Telangana state. He was very loved and respected and an emotional video from the Grandpa Kitchen channel almost a year ago shows him being laid to rest after an elaborate funeral procession.

Now his two grandsons continue his legacy creating new versions of his signature massive dishes and feeding the same local children. Be sure to check out this amazing YouTube channel if you haven’t seen it before.
